Build-A-Production Class

Over the years Plays and Players Theater has offered a variety of acting classes for children ages 5 to 18.  The Children's Acting classes typically run for several months, and usually end with a performance for an audience.

These classes are different from our Parent-Child workshops, as children attend on their own and the sessions run for a longer period of time, thus providing a more intense exploration of dramatic arts.

The Build-A-Production Classs is an introduction to the production of a play from scripting and set-building to rehearsing and performing the work.  Led by instructors, students age 6 to 18 use a children's book as a guide to writing and performing their own play.

Each session will focus on one of the following elements:
  •   Scripting
  •   Set building
  •   Blocking
  •   Costuming
  •   Building Characters
  •   Music and Movement
  •   Improvisation
  •   Stage Management

  • Working side-by-side, our instructors and students will weave these elements together and the end result will become our May production on the third floor Mini-Stage.
