The Stories: The opening play is Mr. Pintauro's DAWN: Quentin and his sister Veronica, together with his wife Pat, gather at the beach to scatter their mother's ashes. The act itself is a closure of sorts, but it stirs up conflicts between the three as marital wounds and sibling rivalries never dealt with are finally confronted. Mr. Wilson's DAY takes a playful look at Ace, a local gardener who goes to the beach on his lunch hour and runs into Macy, a sexpot yuppie (complete with a chic beach umbrella and laptop computer). Macy seduces Ace into applying her tanning lotion, but then the gardener's nutty girlfriend arrives to give them all a run for their money. Mr. McNally's DUSK focuses on Willy, a hunk at the beach, and the two women, Dana and Marsha, who would do anything to have him. We discover that all three suffer from their own personal prisons from which they need to escape, and luckily they seem to have found the right place and time to do so.
Character Breakdowns:
“DAWN”
Quentin or "Q" - A male, 40ish, clean cut lawyer, slick and witty with upper class aura, but tough and angry underneath.
Veronica or "Ronnie" - Q's sister, also 40ish, has a defensive sophisticated wit but is actually an angel who resorts to cruelty out of nervous desperation and loneliness.
Pat - Q's wife is a high functioning, highly moral practicing Buddhist who feels somewhat superior to her in-laws.
“DAWN”
Ace - In his thirties, a gardener and fisherman, soft spoken, shy and only moderately literate.
Bill - Ace's girlfriend, in her thirties rebelling against her wealthy upper class roots, strung out on booze and drugs, loud and prone to profanity.
Macy - Also in her thirties, is a writer, yuppie "sex pot," cunning and manipulative.
“DUSK”
Willy - In his thirties is a toned sexy "hunk" who has all the answers - the lifeguard who tries to rescue two women from their lives.
Marsha and Dana - Both are lonely women in their thirties needing comfort and friendship..
All Actors must be comfortable wearing swim suits, but no nudity.
The stipend will be a small amount meant as a gesture to the actors to compensate for gas, parking, etc. If this is your main concern, then this maynot be the job for you.
