As the leaves turn red, orange, and yellow, Plays & Players 1st Annual Kidz Fest brings you colorful performance and workshops for young audiences!
October 30, 6pm - Halloween Shebang
FREE!
Bring your costume and join our Halloween Celebration and Costume Parade including theatrical and old-fashioned Halloween games. All ages welcome.
October 31 at 3pm - ArcheDream for HUMANKIND’s Chorus of Dreams
Explore the wonders of black light as Archedream uses masks, costumes, original music, various forms of dance and multimedia projections to tell their stories. Chorus of Dreams is a 60-minute dance theatre piece that looks at the New American Dream in three acts; Past, Present and Future. Ages 5 and up.
October 31 - ArcheDream for HUMANKIND workshops.
11am - Mask Making
ArcheDream for HUMANKIND's mask making workshop specializes in teaching people about their style of archetypal character masks and how to visually express an emotion as a character. Thei instructors show what they do physically as a company to bring their masks to life and, most importantly, help their students make their own masks as they share some of their secrets that make mask making so universally magical. Ages 5 and up.
1pm - Mask and Movement
An Introductory hour and a half class in Archetypal Movement will teach what an archetype is, the Triangle of Communication, how to externalize the inner mood, exaggerated movement, mask character walking and body language communication. The masks cover a range of emotions such as - Happiness, Sadness, Anger, and Fear, among others, all on display for and able to be utilized by the participants. Each person takes the mask of their choice and personifies the emotion through gesture and movement. We make suggestions to strengthen and clarify their portrayal and also inspire them to dare more. Ages 5 and up.
November 7-8 at 11am & 2pm - Nelson’s Illusions.
Nelson Illusions is a unique variety show featuring a family trio of skilled magicians and illusionists that combines a dazzling blend of theater, mystery, comedy and romance presented in a variety format. It features a mix of large stage illusions, audience participation routines, an award winning bird act, special effects and a wide selection of stunning magical impossibilities! Seen in over 32 countries and over 40 television shows!
A show for all ages.
